On November 8th, Chinese classic dancedrama “Silk Road, Flower Rain”is staged in Gansu Grand Theater,Lanzhou. Under the guidance of Propaganda Department of Provincial PartyCommittee, the performance is held by Gansu International Cultural ExchangeCenter with the aim of publicizing Chinese culture among foreign teachers andstudents, acquainting them with the renowned art of Gansu and the historicalorigins of the Silk Road culture, and thus spreading the brilliant culture of Gansu.Organized by International Exchange and Cooperation Department, 6 foreign teachersand over 30 exchange students at our university go to watch the performance.
Dating back to 1979, “Silk Road, Flower Rain”tookthe world-famous Silk Road and Dunhuang frescoes as the source materialsand vividly portrayed the glorious working people, Yinniang and her fatherPainting Master Zhang, who saved a dying Persian merchant along the Silk Roadand developed a long-lasting friendship with him. The acclaimed dramahaswon many praises such as “the milestone of dance dramas in China”, “the rolemodel of China’s folk dance drama”, and “China’s Swan Lake”. Becoming a greatbrand name in Gansu and China, “Silk Road, Flower Rain” has been regarded as aspecial cultural ambassador disseminating peace and friendship all around theworld.
The two-hour breath-taking presentation of “SilkRoad, Flower Rain” impresses the audience with its tear-driving story andsplendid performance, leading everyone to the magnificent vision of the SilkRoad. The classic drama interprets the essence of Belt and Road with theexcellent artistry, and provides great opportunities for foreign teachers andexchange students to understand the prominent and profound history oftraditional Chinese and Dunhuang culture. After watching the performance, theforeign teachers and exchange students extend their profuse praises, andexpress that the drama make them better understand Belt and Road, whose spiritsof peace, understanding and win-win cooperation have been embedded in theirmind.
