On May 20th, LUFE successfully hosts the 7thAnnual U.S.-China Friendship Softball Tournament on Heping Campus. This tournament is co-hosted by Physical Education Department, Youth League Committee, and International Exchange and Cooperation Department.Bochman CameronandRiley Susan, PCVs (Peace Corps Volunteers) teaching at LUFE,co-organize the tournament, and 25 PCVs teaching at other universities and colleges in Gansu province participate in thisU.S.-China cultural and sports exchange activity. Vice-president Hu Kai attends the opening ceremony and delivers a speech, and is invited to make the first pitch.
The PCVs Team and Vipers Team of LUFE have regular and friendly combination matches in the morning and afternoon in a fierce and cheerful atmosphere. Through the grueling but friendly games, the students get acquainted with the traditions and rules of softball tournament, and meanwhile theU.S.-China sports spirit exchange is further encouraged.
After the match in the afternoon, the elaborately prepared Chinese traditional culture exhibition and English learning and exchange activities are held by Scientific and Technological Practice Department of Youth League Committee in Xiuyuan Building. The PCVs are deeply attracted and impressed by “Hanfu”, the Han Chinese clothing, zheng and erhu, the traditional Chinese musical instruments, and Chinese calligraphy and painting performed by the students.
